Molded tantalum for tight boards
This TPSA475K010R1400 is a molded tantalum capacitor from KYOCERA AVX's TPS series, rated 4.7 µF at 10 V with ±10% tolerance. The 1206 (3216 Metric) case — 3.20 mm x 1.60 mm footprint, 1.80 mm seated height — fits dense surface-mount layouts where board space is at a premium. The 1.4 Ohm ESR (equivalent series resistance) is the key loss parameter: it governs ripple current handling and self-heating. For a 10 V rail decoupling a 100 kHz switcher, the ESR limits the capacitor's ability to absorb ripple without exceeding its internal temperature rise — a lower ESR part would be needed if the ripple current exceeds the capacitor's rating.
The molded construction and general-purpose feature set keep it usable across commercial and industrial designs as well.
