100 µF, 20 V, 35 mOhm — what this tantalum does on a power rail
The TPME107K020R0035: This is a molded tantalum capacitor from the KYOCERA AVX TPM series, 100 µF at 20 V with ±10% tolerance and a 35 mOhm ESR floor. The 35 mOhm ESR is the key parametric for a BOM engineer: on a 12 V rail switching at 500 kHz, that ESR keeps the ripple voltage under 10 mV peak-to-peak at 1 A load step — the capacitor's own self-heating stays below 2 °C at rated ripple current.
It suits avionics power-supply decoupling, downhole instrumentation, and satellite bus rails where the ambient swings from cold soak to internal heat rise without a separate derating curve.
