10 µF, 50 V — bulk decoupling for 24–48 V rails
The TPME106K050R0120: Rated 10 µF at 50 V, this TPM-series tantalum handles bulk decoupling on 24 V or 48 V rails with derating margin — the 50 V rating keeps the capacitance stable under the applied DC bias, unlike a ceramic cap that loses 60 % of its value at half the rated voltage. The 120 mOhm ESR limits self-heating during ripple current — for a 100 kHz switching supply, the ripple current rating stays high enough to avoid a hot spot at the board edge.
2917 molded case — rework-friendly footprint
The 2917 (7343 Metric) molded case has a flat top and wide end terminations — rework with hot air is straightforward; the part lifts cleanly when both pads are wetted. Standard reflow profile for a 4.3 mm tall part — no special soak requirements. The molded epoxy body handles 260 °C peak without popcorning, provided the MSL level is observed (verify on the reel label).
At 125 °C the leakage current rises, but the 50 V derating to 2/3 of rated voltage keeps the failure rate within the FIDES reliability model.
