22 µF in an 0805 case — where the ESR matters
The TAJR226M002RNJ is a molded tantalum capacitor from the TAJ series, 22 µF ±20% at 2.5 V rated, with a 3.8 Ohm ESR. That ESR is the dominant loss term — at 100 kHz ripple, the self-heating from I²R loss can push the core temperature above the 125°C ceiling if the ripple current exceeds ~200 mA RMS.
The molded case and 0805 footprint let it sit on a satellite PSU board or an engine-bay ECU without derating the voltage at 125°C — tantalum caps typically derate voltage above 85°C, but the 2.5 V rated rail leaves headroom even at the high end.
