The 3.4 Ω ESR is a key parameter for power rail decoupling — it limits the ripple current the part can handle before self-heating becomes a concern.
At 3.4 Ω, the ESR is higher than a typical MLCC of the same capacitance and voltage rating. For a 3.3 V rail, the 4 V rating gives 0.7 V of headroom — adequate for a regulated supply, but tight if the rail sees transients above 4 V. The molded case provides mechanical robustness during reflow and vibration.
