Transient suppression for 18V rails
Its 20V minimum breakdown voltage and 29.2V maximum clamping at 20.55A peak pulse current define the protection window for general-purpose circuits. The 18V standoff voltage means it sits across a 15V or 18V rail without conducting in normal operation—only clamps when the transient exceeds the breakdown threshold.
Thermal and mounting considerations
The DO-214AA (SMB) package is a surface-mount footprint with a copper tab on the cathode side—the PCB pad area under that tab directly sets the junction-to-ambient thermal resistance, so a generous copper pour is recommended for sustained pulse trains. No power line protection means this device is intended for signal or low-energy DC rail clamping, not AC mains or high-energy surge paths. The single unidirectional channel protects one rail per device; for bidirectional or multiple-rail protection, a pair or a different TVS series is needed.
For BOM planning, the active lifecycle means no last-time-buy urgency.
