1 F energy buffer at 8.1 V — hold-up time and ESR trade-off
The SCMR22J105SSBA0 stores 1 F at a rated voltage of 8.1 V, delivering about 32.8 J of usable energy before the voltage decays below the downstream regulator's dropout. The 350 mOhm ESR at 1 kHz sets the initial voltage drop under load — a 1 A pulse sags 350 mV before the capacitance starts to discharge, so the load's minimum operating voltage must sit above that IR drop plus the regulator headroom.
Through-hole radial can — board fit and clearance
The 0.453" (11.50 mm) lead spacing matches the standard 0.45" pitch on many power-board layouts — the two PC pins drop into a 0.045" hole pattern and stand off the board about 2 mm above the solder fillet. The can body is not insulated, so keep adjacent traces and tall components clear of the sides.
Temperature envelope and lifetime — 65°C ceiling, 1000 hours
Rated for -40°C to 65°C operating temperature with a lifetime of 1000 hours at 65°C. This is typical for an aqueous-electrolyte supercapacitor — the electrolyte boils off faster above 65°C, so derate the lifetime by half for every 10°C rise above that. In a 45°C enclosure the part should run well past the 1000-hour mark, but it is not a 85°C automotive cap.
Listed as active by KYOCERA AVX. The 1 F / 8.1 V rating is a standard catalogue value in the SCM series, so volume allocation is stable through distribution.
