Hold-up energy and peak-power assist
The SCMR22F155PSBA0: The 1.5 F capacitance at 5.5 V stores about 22.7 J of energy — enough to ride through a 100 ms mains dropout at 225 W or to supply a 2 A burst for 300 ms before the rail drops below the downstream regulator's minimum input. The 200 mOhm ESR at 1 kHz limits the instantaneous peak current to roughly 27.5 A into a short circuit; in practice, the load current and the voltage drop across the ESR determine whether the capacitor can deliver the pulse without the terminal voltage sagging below the circuit's brownout threshold. This part sits in the SCM series, KYOCERA AVX's medium-capacitance, low-ESR supercapacitor line aimed at power hold-up, peak-power buffering, and backup in industrial electronics, metering, and portable instruments.
Board-fit and thermal budget
Through-hole radial can, 18.50 mm long by 9.50 mm wide, with a seated height of 25.50 mm. The 11.50 mm lead spacing fits standard 0.453-inch pitch prototyping grids and PCB layouts. Operating temperature spans -40°C to 65°C — the upper limit is the capacitor's rated lifetime temperature; above 65°C the 1000-hour rating derates sharply. The tolerance of 0%, +100% means the actual capacitance can be anywhere from 1.5 F to 3.0 F. Design the timing or hold-up circuit for the minimum value; the extra headroom is a safety margin, not a guarantee of tighter performance.
The PC Pins termination and radial can package are standard lead-free compatible.
