The SCMR18J604SRBB0 is a 600 mF supercapacitor in the KYOCERA AVX SCM series, rated at 8.1 V with an ESR of 400 mOhm at 1 kHz. It comes in a through-hole radial can with PC pins and 13.5 mm lead spacing.
The 400 mOhm ESR at 1 kHz sets the self-heating under ripple current — a 1 A ripple dissipates about 0.4 W internally, which must be factored into the thermal budget when the capacitor is near its 65°C operating ceiling. The rated lifetime is 1000 hours at 65°C; derate the operating temperature to extend service life — every 10°C drop roughly doubles the expected hours. The full operating range spans -40°C to 65°C, covering cold-crank and outdoor deployment.
