Logic capacity and speed grade for glue-logic consolidation
The EPM1270T144C5 packs 980 macrocells in a MAX II fabric — enough to absorb a handful of 7400-series logic, a state machine, and a few address decoders into one non-volatile part. Combinatorial propagation delay (tpd) is 6.2 ns max, so the part can keep up with a 100 MHz+ system clock on the data path without adding a wait state. 116 user I/O in a 144-TQFP (20x20 mm) package means the board fan-out is manageable on a four-layer PCB — the outer rows break out cleanly without micro-vias.
Supply rails and temperature range
Operating temperature is 0°C to 85°C — commercial/industrial indoor gear like a PLC backplane or a motor-drive control board is the natural home; not rated for engine-bay or outdoor enclosure without active cooling.
In-system programmability and lifecycle
In-system programmable via JTAG — the configuration is stored in non-volatile flash, so the part wakes up already configured on power-up, no external boot PROM needed. Lifecycle status is active — Intel continues to manufacture this part, so new designs and replacement orders are both viable without a last-time-buy scramble.
