40K LE FPGA for cost-sensitive control-plane logic
The Intel 10M40SAE144C8G is a MAX 10 FPGA with 40000 logic elements and 2500 LABs/CLBs — enough fabric to absorb a modest soft-core MCU, a few SPI/UART interfaces, and glue logic that would otherwise occupy a separate CPLD and a small FPGA. The 101 I/O count in the 144-EQFP package means this part fits designs that need moderate pin count but cannot justify a larger BGA package; the exposed thermal pad on the 144-LQFP Exposed Pad helps sink heat from the core without a heatsink in still-air enclosures. On-chip RAM totals 1290240 bits — enough for a small packet buffer, a few line buffers for a VGA display controller, or configuration cache for the internal ADC that MAX 10 devices include.
Supply rail and temperature grade
Operating temperature is 0°C to 85°C (TJ), the commercial grade. This covers indoor equipment, telecom shelters, and industrial control cabinets without active cooling; for outdoor or under-hood deployment, the industrial-temperature sibling (10M40SAE144I7G) would be the correct choice.
Package and board-fit for the 144-EQFP
The supplier device package is 144-EQFP (20x20), and the package / case is 144-LQFP Exposed Pad. The Tray packaging means the parts ship in anti-static trays, not tape-and-reel — expect this if ordering for prototype or low-volume builds; for high-volume reflow, request reel packaging from the distributor at RFQ time.
