About the model
EIA-96 is the standard marking for 1% (E96) SMD resistors. The two digits are the mantissa (01 = 100 … 96 = 976) and the letter is the multiplier: Z = 0.001, Y = 0.01, X = 0.1, A = 1, B = 10, C = 100, D = 1 000, E = 10 000, F = 100 000. The calculator normalizes the target into the [100, 976] decade and picks the nearest mantissa, so 10 kΩ encodes as 01C (100 × 100) and 100 kΩ as 01D (100 × 1 000). 4.7 kΩ sits between E96 mantissas — the closest marking is 66B (475 × 10 = 4.75 kΩ), about 1.06% off the nominal value.
For the parts themselves: SMD resistors and resistor kits carry these markings on their bodies.
