Active production — what it means for a BOM line
The MAX20094ATIC/VY+ carries an active product status from the manufacturer, so it remains a valid line-item for both new designs and production replenishment. ROHS3 compliant without exemptions — the part clears EU automotive BOM restrictions for lead and halogenated flame retardants as shipped.
1A charge current at 36V input — the fit envelope
Charges a single Li-ion cell (1-cell, 6.8V battery pack voltage) at a constant-current rate up to 1A. The 36V maximum supply voltage covers the nominal 12V automotive rail plus load-dump transients — no external clamp needed for a 36V-rated part on a 12V bus. Operating temperature spans -40°C to 125°C, matching the AEC-Q100 Grade 0 band. An under-hood ECU or engine-bay module that sees 105°C ambient on a hot day still has 20°C of junction margin before the silicon derating curve bends.
I²C/SMBus programmability and package note
Charge parameters — current, voltage, termination threshold — are set over the I²C/SMBus interface rather than by external resistor dividers. The bus also returns telemetry (battery voltage, charge status, fault flags) so a system MCU can log the charging profile without adding ADC channels. Supplied in a 28-WFQFN with exposed pad (5x5 mm, 28-TQFN supplier package). The wettable flank option on the terminal side allows automated optical inspection (AOI) of the solder fillet — a production-floor requirement for automotive tier-1s that cannot rely on X-ray for every joint.
