What the DS1232LP+ does on the board
The DS1232LP+ monitors a single voltage at 4.37 V or 4.62 V threshold. It asserts a reset signal configurable as active-high or active-low, with open-drain or push-pull output. Reset timeout is adjustable.
Reset output flexibility
Having both open-drain and push-pull options on the same part means you can interface directly with almost any logic family without an external pull-up or level translator. Open-drain is the safe choice for wired-OR reset buses shared across multiple supervisors. Push-pull gives a clean, fast edge for a single-host reset line. The active-high and active-low selection covers both reset polarity conventions — no inversion gate needed.
Package and mounting — through-hole legacy fit
Housed in an 8-pin DIP (0.300" width, 7.62 mm pitch), the DS1232LP+ is a through-hole part. That means it fits sockets and wave-solder boards where SMD reflow isn't an option — prototype boards, legacy retrofits, or designs where field replacement without hot air is preferred. The 8-PDIP footprint is standard and widely available on stripboard or perfboard.
For extended-temperature applications, look at the industrial-grade siblings in the MicroMonitor family.
