Asynchronous FIFO in a 16-DIP — what you need to know
The 67L401N: Asynchronous FIFO, 64 x 4 memory, 45 ns access time, 10 MHz data rate. Unidirectional, width-expandable. Operates from 4.75 V to 5.25 V, 0°C to 70°C. 16-DIP through-hole package.
64 x 4 memory — what the depth and width mean
64-word by 4-bit FIFO stores 64 bytes. Width expansion supported. No programmable flags or FWFT.
Package and mounting — legacy DIP footprint
The 67L401N is supplied in a 16-pin DIP package (16-PDIP) with through-hole mounting. This is a legacy footprint, still widely used in prototyping, breadboarding, and through-hole production for low-volume or repair applications. The Bulk packaging means it ships in tubes or trays, not on tape-and-reel, so it is not optimized for automated pick-and-place in high-volume SMT lines. For a new design, a surface-mount equivalent (if available in the family) would be preferable for production efficiency, but for a BOM line that requires a through-hole FIFO, this is the direct fit.
