Package and board-fit — 8-SOIC wide-body
The TLP7820(TP4,E comes in an 8-SOIC wide-body package (0.295", 7.50 mm width) with the supplier device package designated 8-SO. Surface-mount only — the 1.27 mm pitch is standard for SOIC, so no board-spin required if your layout already carries a wide-body SO-8 footprint for an isolator or optocoupler.
The -3 dB bandwidth is 230 kHz. That sets the upper limit on the frequency content the amplifier can pass — for a shunt-based current sense application switching at 100 kHz, the fundamental and first few harmonics fit comfortably, but a 500 kHz ripple component will be attenuated by roughly 6 dB or more. Plan your anti-aliasing filter corner accordingly. Input bias current is 5.5 nA and input offset voltage is 900 µV. For a 10 mOhm shunt carrying 10 A, the 900 µV offset represents a 90 mA error term — acceptable for overcurrent detection but worth budgeting if you are measuring fractional amps.
Supply rails and current draw
That is a tight tolerance for a 5 V rail — a 5 V ±10 % supply sits at 4.5 V on the low end, right at the minimum. If your 5 V bus droops under load, a local LDO or a wider-range isolator might be needed. The differential output pairs well with a downstream ADC that has a differential input stage — common-mode rejection is built into the signal path, not left to the PCB layout.
Temperature grade and operating environment
The 105°C ceiling means the part can sit next to a warm heatsink or a power inductor without derating.
Lifecycle and compliance
Listed as Active with ROHS3 compliance. That means the manufacturer intends to keep this in production for ongoing designs — no last-time-buy clock ticking.
