BLDC commutation controller — what the ratings actually tell you
This is a controller chip, not a full driver with integrated power FETs. It handles commutation sequencing and direction logic for a three-phase BLDC motor, outputting half-bridge gate signals to an external inverter stage. Supply range of 6.5 V to 16.5 V covers common 12 V and 24 V nominal rails — the 6.5 V floor means it stays alive through a deep sag on a 12 V battery, but a 24 V rail needs a pre-regulator to stay under the 16.5 V ceiling. The parallel interface means the host MCU drives the direction and speed commands on dedicated pins — no serial bus, no protocol negotiation, just straight logic levels. That simplifies the firmware but costs GPIOs.
Temperature grade and package — board-fit reality
Rated -30°C to 115°C ambient, which puts it in the industrial range — fine for a fan or pump drive inside an enclosure that sees 85°C, but marginal for an engine bay where the soak temp hits 125°C. 30-LSSOP, 0.220-inch body width, 5.60 mm height. The 0.65 mm pitch means a two-layer board can route it if the fan-out is clean, but the thermal pad on the bottom needs a via array to the ground plane to pull heat out of the die.
