Bipolar stepper driver with integrated MOSFETs
The TB6608FNG,C8,EL from Toshiba is a fully integrated bipolar stepper motor driver combining the control logic and power stage in a single 20-SSOP package. It uses Power MOSFET output technology, so the external driver FETs are eliminated — the board layout stays compact. Rated for 600 mA continuous output current per phase with a load voltage range of 2.5 V to 13.5 V, this part fits small- to medium-torque stepper motors in general-purpose positioning, pick-and-place, and lab-automation stages.
Microstepping resolution and interface
Step resolution is selectable via the parallel interface: full-step, half-step, quarter-step, and eighth-step. The 1/8 microstepping reduces low-speed torque ripple and resonance compared to full-step drive, which matters when the motor runs below 5 rev/s. The parallel interface means the step and direction signals are separate pins — no SPI or I²C overhead. The controller just toggles the STEP line; the driver handles the current sequencing internally.
