Bipolar stepper driver with 1/32 microstepping
The TB62269FTAG,EL from Toshiba Semiconductor is a fully integrated bipolar stepper motor driver that combines the control logic and power stage on a single die. It drives one bipolar stepper motor with a continuous output current of 1.8 A per channel and handles load supply voltages from 10 V to 38 V. The PWM interface accepts step and direction commands, and the step resolution is programmable from full-step down to 1/32 microstepping. That 1/32 microstep capability smooths the low-speed torque ripple and reduces mechanical resonance in positioning stages and pick-and-place heads.
Package and thermal interface
Housed in a 32-VFQFN exposed-pad package (supplier device package 32-VQFN 5x5 mm), the die's heat is conducted through the exposed paddle to the PCB copper plane. The operating temperature range is -20°C to 85°C ambient, which covers most indoor and cabinet-mounted automation gear but not extended outdoor or under-hood environments. Surface-mount assembly with the exposed pad soldered to a thermal land on the PCB is required to keep the junction temperature within limits at the full 1.8 A output. The four half-bridge outputs are configured as two H-bridges for bipolar stepper drive.
