Device identity and what the bias resistors buy you
The RN2304,LXHF: That resistor network eliminates two external passives from the BOM and shrinks the placement to one pick-and-place event. The 47 kOhm base resistor sets the base drive for a given input voltage; with both resistors equal, the transistor turns on when the input exceeds roughly half the supply voltage, giving a predictable switching threshold without a separate divider. Rated for 50 V collector-emitter breakdown and 100 mA continuous collector current, it handles typical low-side switching in 5 V and 12 V logic-level circuits — driving relays, LEDs, or small solenoids where the load current stays under 100 mA. The 200 MHz transition frequency means it switches fast enough for most GPIO-driven PWM below a few hundred kHz without slew-rate issues.
