What this dual 4A driver does for your power stage
The UCC27423D is a dual low-side gate driver from Texas Instruments that delivers 4A peak source and 4A peak sink current per channel. That symmetric drive handles both N-channel and P-channel MOSFET gates with 20 ns rise and 15 ns fall typical times. Supply range is 4V to 15V, covering 5V and 12V gate drive rails common in telecom bricks, motor drives, and industrial power supplies. The independent channel architecture lets you drive two separate MOSFETs or parallel the outputs for higher peak current into a single gate.
Sizing the supply and checking logic compatibility
The 4V to 15V supply range sets the gate-drive voltage for the MOSFET — a 12V rail gives full enhancement for standard-logic-level FETs; 5V works for sub-logic-level parts but watch the Rds(on) increase.
