Dual 4 A low-side driver for harsh environments

It drives both N-channel and P-channel MOSFETs from a single supply rail between 4.5 V and 15 V, covering 5 V logic and 12 V gate bias without a separate regulator. The 8-SOIC package keeps the board footprint small while the 20 ns rise and 15 ns fall times (typical at 4 A) support switching frequencies above 500 kHz in hard-switched converters.

What the 4 A peak current buys you

The 4 A peak source and 4 A peak sink current determine which power MOSFETs this driver can switch cleanly. A MOSFET with 60 nC total gate charge at 500 kHz switching frequency needs 30 mA average drive current — well within the 4 A peak capability, but the peak current matters for the Miller plateau region where the gate voltage stalls. The 4 A rating ensures fast voltage slew across the plateau, minimising switching losses. Independent channels with both inverting and non-inverting inputs let one IC drive a half-bridge (high-side and low-side) or two separate MOSFETs with independent control.

The UCC27325D and UCC27324D are not the same part. The key difference is the input logic: the UCC27325D offers both inverting and non-inverting inputs on independent channels, while the UCC27324D has a different input configuration. Check the respective datasheets for the exact logic table — they are not drop-in replacements without a board spin.

Is UCC27325D compatible with 5V logic inputs?

Yes. The logic input thresholds are 1 V (VIL) and 2 V (VIH), so 5 V logic levels (typical VOH > 4.5 V, VOL < 0.5 V) drive the inputs directly. 3.3 V logic also works as long as the high-level output exceeds 2 V.
