Its 4 A peak source and 4 A peak sink current means it can charge and discharge the gate capacitance of a large TO-220 or D2PAK FET in under 20 ns, which directly shrinks the switching loss interval.
Supply rail and logic thresholds
The driver operates from a single 3.7 V to 20 V bias rail, which covers the common 5 V, 12 V, and 15 V gate-drive buses used in industrial and telecom power converters. The logic input thresholds are 0.7 V (VIL) and 2.6 V (VIH), so a 3.3 V PWM controller can drive it directly without a level-shifter — the 2.6 V VIH leaves about 0.7 V of noise margin on a 3.3 V logic rail.
Package and procurement fit
The base product number is UCC27222; the PWPG4 suffix identifies the 14-HTSSOP package and the lead-free (Pb-free) finish.
