4A peak gate drive — sizing the MOSFET pair
The UCC27210DPRR is a half-bridge gate driver from Texas Instruments, built for driving two N-channel MOSFETs in a half-bridge configuration. The independent channel architecture lets you drive the high-side and low-side FETs with separate control signals — no cross-conduction timing worries if your PWM controller handles the dead-time.
The high-side driver uses a bootstrap supply, and the maximum high-side voltage is 120 V. That covers 48 V, 60 V, and 72 V bus systems with healthy margin. The supply range for the low-side circuitry is 8 V to 17 V — a 12 V rail is the sweet spot, but the part also runs on a 10 V or 15 V bias. The logic input thresholds are 2.4 V (VIL) and 5.8 V (VIH), so this driver expects a 5 V logic signal; 3.3 V PWM controllers will not reliably drive the input high without a level shifter.
