2A continuous, 700kHz — the output filter sizing starts here
The TPS54226PWP is a 2A-rated synchronous step-down (buck) converter from TI's SWIFT™ family, using D-CAP2™ control for fast transient response without external compensation. The 700 kHz switching frequency sets the inductor value and output capacitor count: higher frequency shrinks the magnetics but increases switching losses, so the 700 kHz sweet spot balances board area against efficiency for typical 5V and 3.3V rails. The adjustable output goes from 0.76V up to 5.5V — set by an external resistor divider — covering core voltages for FPGAs, ASICs, and MCUs as well as legacy 3.3V logic.
The synchronous rectifier (integrated low-side FET) eliminates the external Schottky diode and improves efficiency at low output voltages — expect 90%+ efficiency at 5V output, dropping at lower Vout due to the fixed FET Rds(on) losses.
Active lifecycle — no PCN watch needed for existing designs
ROHS3 compliance covers EU RoHS exemption categories — no restricted substances above threshold limits.
