The open-drain output lets you wire-OR this reset with other supervisors or a manual reset button — the pull-up resistor goes to the monitored rail or another logic supply, whichever the processor's reset pin requires.
The reset timeout is a minimum of 170 ms. After the 5V supply crosses the threshold, the output stays low for at least this duration before releasing the processor from reset.
The output is open drain (open collector). It requires an external pull-up resistor to the logic supply voltage of the downstream device.
