Reset supervisor for a 3.1V rail
The TPS3840PL31DBVR is a simple reset/power-on reset IC from Texas Instruments that monitors a single 3.1V supply rail and asserts an active-low reset signal when the voltage drops below that threshold. The output is push-pull, totem pole — it drives the reset line high or low without needing an external pull-up resistor, which saves a component on the BOM. With a typical reset timeout of 619 ms, the part holds the system in reset long enough for the supply to stabilise after power-up, covering most MCU and FPGA power-on sequences.
Threshold and timing for the BOM
The 3.1V threshold is set internally — no external resistor divider needed. That simplifies the layout and removes a tolerance stack from the trip point. The 619 ms timeout is a typical value; the datasheet min/max bounds determine the worst-case hold time for the downstream processor. Budget the minimum timeout when calculating the power-good window.
