Supervisor IC for 3.3 V rail monitoring
The TPS3838L30DBVT is a Texas Instruments Simple Reset/Power-On Reset IC that monitors a single voltage rail and asserts an active-low reset signal when the supply drops below 2.64 V. The open-drain output stays low for a minimum of 10 ms after the rail recovers, giving the downstream processor time to stabilize before code execution begins. It is commonly used in battery-powered equipment, industrial controllers, and embedded systems where a clean power-on reset is critical.
The 2.64 V threshold is set for a nominal 3.3 V supply — it triggers reset before the rail falls below the minimum operating voltage of most 3.3 V logic. If your processor requires a different trip point, the TLV803 family offers 2.93 V and 4.38 V options, though with longer timeout values. The 10 ms minimum reset timeout is on the shorter side among simple supervisors. Compare with the TLV803EA29VDBZR at 130 ms minimum or the TLV803ED29DBZR at 33 ms minimum if your system needs a longer hold time for a slow-starting power supply or a complex SoC boot sequence.
