What this supervisor does on the rail
The TPS3831G12DQNT is a single-channel voltage supervisor that asserts a reset signal when the monitored supply drops below 1.1V. The output is push-pull, active low — it drives the reset pin of an MCU or SoC directly without needing an external pull-up resistor. That saves one component on the board and one BOM line.
Threshold and temperature fit
With a 1.1V threshold, this part is built for 1.2V or 1.8V digital cores — common on Cortex-M and low-power RF MCUs. If the board lives under the hood or in a downhole tool, the TLV803EA29VDBZR sibling extends the temperature range to 125°C. That part uses an open-drain output, so the pull-up resistor trade-off applies.
The 4-X2SON (1x1mm) package is tiny — four pads on a 1 mm square body with an exposed pad underneath. It reflows cleanly with a standard lead-free profile, but hand-soldering needs a fine tip and steady hands. The exposed pad helps thermal transfer to the PCB, so make sure the ground plane under it has a solid via array.
