The TPS3705-50D is a Texas Instruments simple reset/power-on reset IC that monitors a single 5V supply rail and asserts an active-low reset when the voltage drops below 4.55V. The 4.55V threshold is set for a nominal 5V system — it trips before the supply falls out of regulation, giving the downstream logic a clean reset before brownout conditions corrupt data. With a minimum reset timeout of 140ms, the output holds the system in reset long enough for the power supply and oscillator to stabilize after power-up or a glitch.
Push-pull output saves a resistor on the BOM
The push-pull, totem-pole output can both source and sink current, so no external pull-up resistor is needed — one fewer component to qualify and place. The active-low reset output is compatible with most microcontroller and DSP reset inputs that expect a low signal during power-up or fault.
Industrial temperature range in an SOIC-8 footprint
Housed in an 8-SOIC package (0.154" width, 3.90mm body), it is a drop-in fit for existing 5V reset socket designs with a standard surface-mount footprint.
