4.55 V threshold supervisor for 5 V battery-backed rails
The Texas Instruments TPS3617-50DGK is a battery backup supervisor IC that monitors a single 5 V supply rail and switches to battery when the voltage drops below 4.55 V. It asserts a push-pull active-low reset with a guaranteed minimum timeout of 60 ms, giving the processor time to save state and the oscillator to stabilise before release.
Reset timing and output drive
The reset output is push-pull (totem pole), so no external pull-up resistor is needed. A single voltage is monitored — the 4.55 V threshold is fixed and trimmed for 5 V nominal systems.
Housed in an 8-VSSOP (also listed as 8-TSSOP / 8-MSOP, 3.00 mm width), this is a surface-mount part with a 0.65 mm pitch. The small footprint suits space-constrained designs on 5 V rails where a separate supervisor and battery switchover would take more board area.
