The open-drain output lets you wire-OR it with other reset sources or level-shift to a different logic voltage via an external pull-up resistor. Reset stays asserted for a minimum of 65 ms after the rail returns above threshold, giving the system oscillator and core logic time to stabilise.
Open-drain output — plan the pull-up
Because the output is open drain, the reset signal is actively pulled low but relies on an external resistor to pull it high when the condition clears. Pick the pull-up value so the rise time stays within the downstream reset input's requirements — a 10 kΩ resistor to the rail is a common starting point. The active-low polarity means the reset line is held low during power-up, brown-out, and manual reset events.
