Single low-side driver with 2A peak gate drive
It delivers 2A peak source and 2A peak sink current with 14ns typical rise and fall times, making it suitable for switching power supplies, DC-DC converters, and motor drive applications where fast gate charge and discharge are needed. The inverting input logic accepts standard logic levels with a 1V VIL and 4V VIH threshold, and the part operates from a 4V to 14V supply rail over the -40°C to 125°C temperature range.
14ns switching — what it buys the design
The 14ns rise and fall times are symmetric, which simplifies timing in half-bridge or synchronous rectifier stages where dead-time matching matters. At 2A peak drive, the TPS2816DBVT can fully charge a typical 10 nC gate charge in under 20 ns, keeping switching losses low in 100 kHz to 500 kHz converters. The inverting input means a logic high on the input turns the driver output low — check your PWM polarity before layout.
The 4V to 14V supply range covers standard 5V and 12V bias rails. The logic input thresholds — 1V VIL, 4V VIH — are compatible with 5V logic but will not reliably read a 3.3V logic-high as a valid high. If your controller runs on 3.3V, you need a level shifter or a different driver with lower VIH. The part is not compatible with 3.3V logic without an interface.
Package and storage note
Housed in a SOT-23-5 (SC-74A) surface-mount package, the TPS2816DBVT is a compact footprint for space-constrained designs.
