2.7–19 V input, 2 A output — electronic fuse with surge clamping
The Texas Instruments TPS259620DDAT is an electronic fuse (eFuse) that integrates overcurrent protection and surge clamping in a single 8-PowerSOIC package with a PowerPad for thermal management.
The current-limit accuracy is specified at ±10.4%, which means the actual trip threshold for a 2 A setting could be as low as 1.792 A or as high as 2.208 A. When sizing the load budget, account for this tolerance to avoid nuisance trips at the low end or insufficient protection at the high end. For a 1.8 A nominal load, the 1.792 A minimum trip leaves only 8 mV of headroom — a 2 A-rated design with 20% margin is the safer call.
8-PowerSOIC with PowerPad — layout and thermal handling
At 2 A continuous, the pad carries most of the dissipation — without the via stitch the junction temperature rises quickly above 85°C ambient. The supplier device package is 8-SO PowerPad, so the footprint matches standard SOIC-8 PowerPad land patterns.
