USB port protection for 12V and 24V automotive buses
The Texas Instruments TPS25840QWRHBRQ1 is an automotive-grade USB protection IC designed to safeguard downstream USB ports on vehicle infotainment, telematics, and charging modules.
Wide input range and low quiescent current
The device accepts a supply voltage from 4.5V to 36V, which directly covers nominal 12V and 24V automotive electrical systems including load-dump transients. Its typical supply current of 700µA keeps the quiescent draw low enough for always-on USB ports that must not drain the battery when the vehicle is parked.
Wettable flank package for AOI in automotive lines
Housed in a 32-VFQFN with exposed pad (5x5 mm body, supplier device package 32-VQFN), the TPS25840QWRHBRQ1 uses a wettable flank termination. This allows automated optical inspection (AOI) of the solder fillets after reflow — a requirement for many automotive tier-1 production lines that cannot rely on X-ray alone to verify QFN joint quality.
