Dual 44 mOhm switch with adjustable current limit
The TPS2561QDRCRQ1 is a dual-channel, high-side N-channel power switch rated for 2.5 A continuous per output with a typical on-resistance of 44 mOhm. That Rds(on) number is the floor for your conduction loss budget — at 2.5 A per channel the I²R dissipation is about 275 mW per switch, which adds up fast if both channels are loaded and the ambient is 85°C. Each output has its own adjustable current-limit threshold, so you can set a 1 A trip on one channel for a sensor supply and a 2.5 A trip on the other for an actuator — no external current-sense resistor needed. The slew-rate controlled turn-on limits inrush into capacitive loads, and the open-drain status flag pulls low when either channel hits overcurrent or thermal shutdown.
Automotive temp range and fault protection
The protection block includes adjustable current limiting, over-temperature shutdown, and undervoltage lockout (UVLO) — the UVLO threshold prevents the switch from turning on until the supply rail is stable, which avoids partial enhancement and excessive dissipation during power-up. The input-to-output ratio is 1:2 — one enable pin controls both channels simultaneously. If you need independent on/off control per channel, the TPS2560 (single-channel sibling) or a dual-channel part with separate enables would be the alternative.
10-VSON package and thermal layout
The datasheet recommends a minimum of four vias in the pad area, each 0.3 mm diameter, tied to the ground plane. Without that via cluster the junction temperature rises 20–30°C above the ambient for a 2.5 A load on both channels.
