What the 22 mOhm Rds(on) buys the automotive power rail
The TPS2557QDRBTQ1 is a single-channel high-side power switch from Texas Instruments, AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive applications. Its 22 mOhm typical on-resistance keeps conduction loss under 0.11 W at 2.2 A continuous — a meaningful margin for the 8-SON exposed-pad thermal path. Rated for a load voltage range of 2.5 V to 6.5 V, it covers 3.3 V and 5 V automotive logic and sensor rails without needing an external Vcc supply.
Sizing the current limit and fault protection
The adjustable current limit lets the designer set the threshold between the load's normal peak and the short-circuit ceiling — useful when the same switch must handle multiple ECU variants with different harness capacitances. Over-temperature shutdown and undervoltage lockout (UVLO) are integrated; the status flag output signals a fault to the system controller without a separate comparator.
Active production — sourcing posture for the BOM line
Supplied in Tape & Reel (TR) or Cut Tape (CT) on an 8-VDFN exposed-pad package (8-SON 3x3 mm). The ROHS3 compliance eliminates the need for a lead-free process waiver.
