High-side switch with adjustable current limit — NRND, plan a second source

TI may issue a last-time-buy (LTB) notice at any point, after which the part becomes obsolete. For a BOM that already uses this switch, the procurement risk is manageable in the short term, but any new design should select a current-production alternative from the TPS255x family or a pin-compatible second source.
The 1.1 A maximum continuous output sets the hard ceiling for the downstream load. The adjustable current limit (set via an external resistor) allows the designer to trip at a lower threshold, protecting the load and the switch itself. The 100 mOhm typical Rds(on) means a voltage drop of roughly 110 mV at full load — enough to matter in a 3.3 V rail if the load is sensitive to supply droop. The slew-rate control feature limits the turn-on current surge, which is useful when driving capacitive loads like USB ports or peripheral power domains.
Package and mounting — 6-WSON exposed pad
The datasheet specifies a recommended copper area and via count for the thermal pad — the device's junction-to-ambient thermal resistance depends heavily on this layout. Without proper thermal management, the 1.1 A continuous current can push the junction temperature above the 150°C absolute maximum, especially in a high-ambient environment. The package is moisture-sensitive; verify the MSL level before reflow.
