Protection set and fault reporting
Built-in protection covers the two failure modes that kill USB ports: over-current and over-temperature. The current limit is adjustable via an external resistor — you set the trip point to match the cable gauge or connector rating, not the other way around. When a fault trips, the Status Flag output (open-drain, active low) tells the host controller to log the event or retry the port. The switch itself is self-recovering after the fault clears.
The 16-WFQFN with exposed pad (3x3 mm) is a compact footprint for space-constrained USB hubs, docking stations, or automotive USB charge ports.
No end-of-life notification, no last-time-buy window to track. For new designs this means standard distribution availability with no forced redesign horizon.
