USB power switch — 73 mOhm, 3 A, fault-protected
The TPS2544RTET: The switch is controlled by a simple On/Off interface and requires no external Vcc supply rail — the gate drive is self-powered from the load voltage. Built-in fault protection covers adjustable current limiting, over-temperature shutdown, and under-voltage lockout (UVLO).
At 3 A load, the 73 mOhm typical on-resistance produces about 220 mV drop and 0.66 W dissipation inside the package. If the board layout skimps on copper, the current-limit threshold will fold back sooner than expected. The adjustable current limit lets you set the trip point below 3 A with a single resistor to ground. That's useful when the downstream load is a sensitive peripheral that cannot survive a hard short at full current — you can dial the limit down to match the cable and connector rating.
For the procurement desk, that means the part is still in the normal TI distribution channel and can be quoted against a BOM quantity without obsolescence risk.
