Why the boost converter matters for a USB switch
The TPS2501DRCT integrates a boost converter to generate a gate-drive voltage above the input rail for its N-channel pass FETs. Without that internal boost, a standard N-channel switch would need an external charge pump or a higher supply rail to achieve the same on-resistance.
Two outputs, one small footprint
Two independent outputs, each rated for 1.4 A continuous, share the 10-VSON (3x3 mm) exposed-pad package. The 1:2 input-to-output ratio means a single upstream rail feeds both channels. The output configuration can be high-side or low-side, which gives flexibility for power-rail sequencing or load-switching on either the Vbus or ground side of a USB port.
Fault protection that covers the common failure modes
Adjustable current limiting lets you set the trip threshold per design, not just a fixed hard limit. The status flag output reports fault conditions back to the system controller.
