Dual USB switch with a boost converter you didn't know you needed
Most USB switches are just pass FETs with some protection logic; this one handles both the voltage conversion and the port switching in a single 10-VSON package.
80 mOhm pass element — what it costs you in heat
The typical Rds(on) of 80 mOhm per channel sets the conduction loss floor. At the full 1.4 A output, that's about 157 mW of dissipation per channel — manageable in the 10-VSON with its exposed thermal pad, but you'll want a solid copper pour on the pad's PCB footprint to keep the junction below the 125°C ceiling. The output configuration is high-side or low-side, selectable, which gives flexibility for positive-rail or ground-referenced switching depending on your USB port topology.
Fault protection set — adjustable current limit, OTP, UVLO
The TPS2500DRCT includes adjustable current limiting, over-temperature protection, and undervoltage lockout. The current limit is set with an external resistor, so you can dial in the trip point between the 1.4 A maximum and whatever the downstream load actually needs — useful for USB ports that must survive a hard short without browning out the host supply. A status flag output signals fault conditions — over-current or over-temperature — which can be fed back to a GPIO on the host controller for software-level port management or system shutdown.
