Dual USB switch with integrated boost and fault protection
The part can be configured as a high-side or low-side switch, and the 1:2 input-to-output ratio means one input powers two independent output channels.
80 mOhm Rds(on) and the thermal budget at 1.4 A
At 1.4 A per channel, the 80 mOhm typical Rds(on) produces about 157 mW of conduction loss per channel (I²R). The 1.4 A rating is per channel, but the total power dissipation across both channels must stay within the package's thermal budget — derate if both channels run at full load simultaneously in a high ambient.
Fault protection set: adjustable current limit, OTP, UVLO
The TPS2500DRCR includes current limiting (adjustable via an external resistor), over-temperature protection, and under-voltage lockout. These three protections cover the common failure modes in a USB power path: a shorted load, a hot swap that exceeds the thermal limit, and a supply rail that droops below the UVLO threshold. The status flag output signals a fault condition to the host controller, which can then sequence a power-down or retry.
