AEC-Q100 load switch for power-rail sequencing
The TPS22965TDSGTQ1 is a single-channel, high-side N-channel load switch from Texas Instruments, part of the Automotive, AEC-Q100 series. The 16 mOhm Rds(on) keeps conduction losses low — at 4 A the dissipation is roughly 0.26 W, manageable in the 8-WSON (2x2 mm) package without a heatsink in typical automotive ambient conditions.
The 4 A continuous rating is the maximum DC current the internal FET can carry at 25 °C ambient. The device is specified over -40 °C to 105 °C ambient (TA), so derating for temperature rise in an under-hood or cabin module is necessary — the actual safe continuous current at 85 °C will be lower than 4 A, per the datasheet's derating curve. Built-in load discharge and slew rate control manage the output ramp during turn-on and discharge the output capacitance when the switch is off. The slew rate limits inrush current into capacitive loads, preventing a voltage droop on the upstream supply rail that could reset other ICs on the same bus.
Package and board-fit considerations
Housed in an 8-WFDFN exposed-pad package (8-WSON 2x2 mm), the device requires a surface-mount soldering process. The small 2x2 mm footprint saves board space in space-constrained automotive modules like body controllers or ADAS sensor power sequencers.
