ExpressCard slot power — three independent high-side outputs
The Texas Instruments TPS2231MRGPR-3 is a dedicated ExpressCard™ power switch that delivers three independent high-side outputs, each rated for 1.3 A maximum, from a 20-VFQFN exposed-pad package. It handles the dual-rail ExpressCard requirement directly: the 3.3 V rail for VCC and the 1.5 V rail for VPP, with a typical on-resistance of 45 mOhm per channel.
45 mOhm Rds(on) — thermal budget in a 4x4 QFN
At 1.3 A per output, the 45 mOhm typical on-resistance produces roughly 76 mW of conduction loss per channel — about 230 mW total with all three outputs active. The 20-QFN with exposed pad (4x4 mm) dissipates this comfortably with a proper thermal via pattern to the ground plane. The fixed current-limiting and over-temperature fault protection prevent the switch from exceeding its SOA during a short-circuit event; the Status Flag output alerts the host controller so it can sequence a power-down.
