PCMCIA power switch — three-rail, three-output distribution
The Texas Instruments TPS2220ADBR is a PCMCIA switch IC designed to route power to PC Card slots. It integrates three high-side outputs, each rated for 1 A maximum continuous current, with a typical on-resistance of 95 mOhm. A serial interface controls output selection, and a status flag reports fault conditions.
Protection and temperature grade
Built-in fault protection includes fixed current limiting and over-temperature shutdown. The device does not require a Vcc/Vdd supply — it is self-powered from the load rails, simplifying the BOM by eliminating an extra bias regulator.
Package and lifecycle
Housed in a 24-pin SSOP package (0.209-inch body width, 5.30 mm height), the TPS2220ADBR is supplied on Tape & Reel for automated assembly. The supplier device package is 24-SSOP.
