The TPS2211APW is a dual high-side PCMCIA power switch from Texas Instruments, designed to manage the Vcc and Vpp supply rails in a PCMCIA slot. The 70 mOhm typical on-resistance per channel keeps conduction losses low enough that a 1 A continuous load won't cook the 20-TSSOP package in free air — but the real win is the 3:2 input-to-output ratio, which lets a single controller sequence power to two independent slots from three supply inputs (3.3 V, 5 V, 12 V).
Parallel interface and fault protection — no Vcc/Vdd rail needed
The switch is controlled via a parallel logic interface — no external Vcc/Vdd supply required for the control logic, which simplifies the BOM in a tight PCMCIA controller layout. Fixed current limiting and over-temperature protection are built in, so the switch folds back or shuts down before the card or the host traces see a hard short.
