PCMCIA power switch — four-channel high-side distribution
The Texas Instruments TPS2206IDFR is a four-output PCMCIA power switch IC in a 30-SSOP surface-mount package. It integrates four high-side switches rated for 1 A maximum per output, supporting load voltages of 3.3 V, 5 V, and 12 V — the three supply rails a PCMCIA or CardBus slot demands. The serial interface selects which outputs are active, and the 3:4 input-to-output ratio lets one control line manage three of the four channels.
The typical on-resistance of 103 mOhm per channel sets the conduction loss floor. The fixed current-limiting and over-temperature shutdown protect the card slot and the host board from a shorted card or a stalled fan — the part latches off, not on.
Obsolete — sourcing and replacement reality
A pin-compatible drop-in from the same family is not documented; any replacement will require a board-level evaluation of the 30-SSOP footprint and the serial-control protocol.
30-SSOP package and mounting
The 30-SSOP package has a 0.209-inch body width and 5.30 mm height. Tape-and-reel and cut-tape are the shipping formats.
