PCMCIA power switch with triple-voltage load support
The Texas Instruments TPS2205IDF is a PCMCIA power-distribution switch designed to supply VCC and VPP rails to two PC Card slots. It integrates four high-side outputs—two for VCC and two for VPP—each rated for 1 A continuous, with a typical on-resistance of 103 mOhm.
Built-in fault protection and status reporting
The TPS2205IDF includes fixed current limiting and over-temperature shutdown to protect the host and card from fault conditions. A status-flag output signals overcurrent or thermal events to the system controller, enabling software-driven fault handling without external comparators.
Parallel interface and 3:4 input-to-output ratio
Control is via a parallel interface with a 3:4 input-to-output ratio—three logic inputs select which of the four outputs are enabled and at what voltage. This mapping allows independent control of VCC and VPP per slot while minimising GPIO usage on the host controller.
Industrial temperature range and 30-SSOP package
It is supplied in a 30-pin SSOP package (0.209-inch body width, 5.30 mm) for surface-mount assembly.
Obsolete status and sourcing reality
Texas Instruments has designated the TPS2205IDF as obsolete. Buyers should confirm stock position and lead time at quote time, as availability is not guaranteed from factory inventory.
