PCMCIA power switch — 103 mOhm, four outputs, three voltage rails
The Texas Instruments TPS2205IDAP is a high-side power-distribution switch designed for PCMCIA and CardBus slots. A parallel interface selects the output configuration, and the 3:4 input-to-output ratio means three control lines manage four switch channels.
Industrial temperature grade and self-contained protection
Fault protection is built in: fixed current limiting and over-temperature shutdown. No external sense resistor or comparator is needed — the chip handles the protection loop internally, which saves board area and BOM cost on a multi-slot design. The status flag output (open-drain, active low) signals over-current or thermal fault to the host controller. A parallel interface selects which outputs are enabled; the switch does not require a Vcc supply for its own logic — the load rails power the control circuitry.
Active lifecycle — no end-of-life clock ticking
The sibling TPS2205IDAPR is the tape-and-reel version — same silicon, same package, same ratings; the only difference is the shipping medium. For high-volume pick-and-place, the IDAPR is the reeled option.
